⭐ David Spashett – The RC Car Hero Who Raced Like Lightning!
A Story for Kids
🚗💨 Who Is David Spashett?
David Spashett is a super-famous RC car racer from England.
When he was little, he loved tiny race cars — and he loved racing them FAST!
He started racing at his local RC club, and everyone quickly noticed:
“Wow! This kid is REALLY good!”
David kept practicing and practicing… and practicing.
He raced so much that people said it looked like his RC car was glued to the track because he drove so smooth!
🏆 A Champion Many, MANY Times!
David didn’t just win a race.
He didn’t just win two races.
He became a World Champion — not once… not twice…
but FIVE times!
And one time, at a big world race, David did something no one else in the world has ever done:
⭐ He won three different World Championships in the SAME event!
That means he raced three different kinds of RC cars…
…and he won EVERY SINGLE ONE of them!
People still talk about it today because it was such a big deal.
🔧 Why Was David So Good?
Because David wasn’t just fast.
He was:

✨ Calm

✨ Kind
He always helped other racers, especially kids who wanted to learn.
🏁 Helping RC Cars Become Better
David didn’t just race — he helped build and improve RC cars, too!
He worked with companies to design better cars, test new parts, and help make RC racing more fun for everyone.
He even started his own RC company called Zen Racing, where he:
Helps young drivers
Builds cool RC parts
Teaches people how to race better
David loves sharing what he knows, because he wants kids to enjoy RC racing the same way he always has.
👨🏫 A Teacher and a Hero
Even after racing for many years, David still goes to races, helps kids learn, and shows everyone how fun RC cars can be.
People look up to him because he:

⭐ Exclusive Interview With RC World Champion David Spashett
A conversation about racing, learning, family, and what it takes to become great.
1) How did you get into RC racing?
David: The local club was in my village, and it was something I could do with my father.
2) Who was your biggest influence when you started?
David: Without question, my father.
3) Was there a moment when you realized you could become a top racer?
David: I don't think there was any single moment, but over time—learning and being around good people—we could see the opportunity to do well was there.
4) What helped you grow the most as a racer?
David: I was lucky enough to be surrounded by good people and friends who wanted to help and see us achieve great results.
The biggest single thing was the commitment to race at every opportunity. Every day was a school day.
5) What separates a great racer from a good racer?
David: Knowing your limits and knowing how good you can be if you have all the pieces of the puzzle put together.
6) What race means the most to you?
David: They all have a place for sure, but the Worlds in the UK, where I could share the week with friends and family, was amazing.
7) What’s one piece of setup advice every racer should follow?
David: Make sure the car is built correctly and is in good enough condition to run the whole event.
Set yourself up to succeed, not fail.
8) What’s the most common mistake racers make?
David: Not being ready and leaving things to sort out on race day.
9) Explain “traction” to a 5-year-old.
David: Crashing is slower — so more grip and better control means less crashing.
10) What is the number one tuning item young racers should learn about?
David: Tyres. They’re the only thing touching the floor and make the biggest difference of all.
11) What’s your strategy on the first lap?
David: Don’t crash or take a risk. Get settled and learn the car quickly so you can push when it matters.
12) How do you decide when to take risks?
David: Calculated risk and reward — is the reward at this time worth the risk?
13) How do you handle changing track conditions?
David: Wait for them to settle before making setup changes. Then gauge how much the track has changed to know whether I’m making small detail changes or taking a new approach.
14) How do you handle close battles with other drivers?
David: Push them to move or make mistakes, and get back into my pace as quickly as possible.
15) Do you worry about other drivers?
David: Worry about what you can do, not what others are doing.
16) How do you recover after a mistake?
David: Forget and move on. Don’t try to make up for it — time lost is lost.
17) What do you want young racers to know about winning?
David: To know they can. To believe that if they do everything right, the chance to win is possible.
Nothing is given — everything is earned.
18) How much preparation should a racer do?
David: Always as much as you can. Make it right.
19) What’s the most important skill in racing?
David: Preparation.
20) How important is consistency?
David: It’s everything. If you’re not consistent, how can you maximize your efforts?
21) What advice do you give about life and racing?
David: If you want something, work hard. Nothing is free or given to you.
22) Your message on success?
David: See number 21.
23) What keeps you motivated?
David: Because you enjoy what you do. That’s easy.
If the enjoyment is gone, then why are you still trying?
24) What’s your favorite racing memory?
David: Driving around the outside of Masami at the Worlds — twice.
25) Do you have a favorite race overall?
David: So many good races. I enjoyed all of them so much, but I’m happy to leave them as they are.
26) How would you describe yourself?
David: I have no idea — friends know who I am.
27) What advice would you give a brand-new racer?
David: Enjoy racing first and have reasonable expectations.
28) Final advice for anyone chasing improvement?
David: Enjoy what you do and give yourself the best chance to be the best you can be.
